This is the DML kit of the Horten 229 Night Fighter. Overall, an excellent kit, with good detail, and some photo-etched parts for the radar antennae. Assembly was very simple, as the kit is comprised, for the most part, of a top and bottom half of the wing. Cockpit detail is adequate, and was painted a medium grey, with drybrushed highlights, particularly on the instrument panel. I used Aeromaster enamels for this kit--they had a line of paints specifically designed for use with German planes. Colors included lichblau, dunkelgrun, dunkelgrau, etc., and matched up perfectly. The decals went on without a hitch, though I may have gotten the forward bay door decal wrong. The camo pattern was applied with an airbrush set at low psi.
Several remote controlled rocket bombs are included for mounting under the wing. These were tiny kits unto themselves, and add a degree of detail to the otherwise unexciting belly of the plane. Panel lines were accentuated with a very light wash of dark grey. The model was finished off with a light dusting of Testors semi-gloss. I used this instead of Dullcote just to see how it would look. Not bad, actually.
